  • A suspension lift is always better in the long run, it improves ground clearance, suspension travel, ride, and flex. I t will always be more expensive if done right, but the benefits outweigh the cost in comparison. A body lift will be cheaper, and will only allow you to put a larger diameter tire on by putting space between the axle and the top of the fender opening. Many people get away with a little of both, a low cost body and suspension lift and get double the height, but unless the actual suspension components are changed the vehicle will be no more capable off road than it was before.
  • put a set of falken tires on my Dakota, purchased from a reputable tire outlet. I was skeptical of them because of the weak side wall, but coverage by a nationwide warranty quelled my fears. I had no problem with the tires, and they rode very well, only had one issue with a torn side wall, but it was because of an accident, and the warranty kicked in nicely. The were a nice, low cost alternative to the major brands for me.
  • Battery life depends on many factors, but usually 3-4 years. 1 price paid for the battery, the higher the price the longer it should last. there are 36, 60, 72 grades on batteries, the higher the number the better it is. 2. conditions, extreme cold or hot will lessen a battery's life 3. usage, short drives where it can't be recharged completely, accessories running when engine is off will do this also. Lead/acid batteries have only a certain number of times they can be discharges and recharged before they wear out, if you want your battery to last longer you should pay a little more for it, and use the warranty if it does not live up to it's life expectancy.
  • JCwhitney.com has a ton of bug parts, also Bugcity.com is great for vintage bugs.
  • Any center cap that fits the opening will work, some people even go for the spinner option.
  • Something like the Permatex 25247 Fabric Repair Kit available on Amazon might fill the bill. if the tear is large you may want to bring it to an upholstery shop. The spot will always be noticeable, but this just may keep it from getting larger. You might want to look into getting some inexpensive seat covers if the puppies are going to ride with you often.
  • Cheapest option would be a salvage yard, check your local yellow pages, or the internet for one near you and see if they have one. Otherwise try rockauto.com, they have had everything I have needed so far, and they ship it to your door.
